        This chapter introduces IS-IS, a link state protocol that distributes
            routing information between routers belonging to an autonomous system. It provides
            configuration commands and examples and information about configuring, displaying, and
            managing IS-IS on a network. This chapter assumes that you are already familiar with
            Intermediate System-Intermediate System (IS‑IS) and IP routing.
